Those poems have been lost. After graduating with honours he chose to roam the world, first as a diplomat and later as an economist. Diplomatic postings overseas included Tehran (Iran) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).Over recent years David has published several novels as well as short stories and poems. His poem 'Persian Princess' was commended in the John Shaw Neilson Poetry Award (2009 Fellowship of Australian Writers National Literary Awards). His novels include 'Butchers Parade', 'Old Shemiran Road' and 'Dog Acts'.
