Lots of suspects in the detective's family

L. A. homicide detective Jack Rivera is under suspicion of murder. Cocktail-waitress-turned-psychologist Christina McMullen can't believe he did it. But it might be her libido talking. When it comes to Rivera, she has a bad case of irresistible attraction. To add insult to injury, the dead woman was his beautiful ex-girlfriend now engaged to his father. And Christina thought she had family problems! As Christina investigates, she suspects his mother or his father the senator may have killed her. She also knows that she'd better be sure before she tells Rivera of her suspicions. The dead woman had quite a past. Can Christina uncover the real killer without putting herself in danger? Will Rivera be there to save her once again? I really enjoy this series. The sexual tension between Rivera and Christina is well written. I thought this book was well crafted and that the various characters interacted well and gave the story a lot of twists and turns in identifying the killer. The writer has done a great job in creating a cast of characters that engage the reader and intensify the mystery. I highly recommend this book and series.

Funny and Entertaining

I absolutely love this author and this series!!!!! She is neurotic, single minded and just plain entertaining. I love the fact she is trying to "refrain" from smoking but life gets the best of her. As all women do she worries about her weight and how her looks but her opinion of herself is not always great. Chrissy is just a doll. I read A LOT and this really captured my attention and kept it. The problem is there aren't enough of them. Waiting patiently for the next.

Lois Greiman has done it again

For a good laugh, pick up any of the series involving Christina McMullen, Ph.D. By the middle of the second chapter, I was literally laughing out loud. Chrissy (or Mac as her best friend calls her) has some zingers about men, life in general and herself that had me rolling off the bed laughing so hard. I read the first five chapters within an hour's time. Having not read the first two in the series, I had to play catch up to the characters. This wasn't difficult as the recurring characters' personalities came through rather quickly. I was involved more with the doings of Christina and her crew (friends/associates) than the other stuff. The interactions between them are totally believable; so much so that I had forgotten that there was a mystery to solve. It seems to me that Ms. McMullen knows trouble--and it follows her wherever she goes. But she has guardian angels and they come through, even when she is almost at her last breath at the hands of someone else. Definitely a twisty end because I didn't see this coming at all. Very enjoyable, quick read. Wish I had time to read the others in the series. This book by Lois Greiman will keep you in stitches. Armchair Interviews says: This prolific author has done it again!

Greiman Delivers Again!

Christina McMullen, L.A. cocktail-waitress-turned-psychologist, has a problem. A problem wrapped up in a killer body, a wicked smile and a touch that would drive a saint to sin. Unfortunately for Chrissy, she asked for this particular problem. All she wanted was a date with sexy homicide detective Jack Rivera. So what's a sexually frustrated girl to do when the man in question's cell phone goes off and the ring tone is suspiciously feminine? And when he leaves you in a puddle of desire as he rushes off to take care of whoever was on the other end of that call? To make things more complicated, he goes and gets himself arrested. When Chrissy discovers that Jack has been arrested for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, who just happens to be his senator fathers current lover, she's conflicted. She knows she can help get to the bottom of the murder, but she also knows that Jack is a passionate man. And passionate men are capable of murder. As she digs into the murder she uncovers more twists and turns in Jacks past and the Rivera family dynamics than a Celtic knot. But the more she investigates, the more shes certain things aren't as they appear and perhaps Jack isn't guilty after all. Lois Greiman has done it again! She delivers a fast paced story full of wit and sexual tension. Her characters are vivid and her prose creates a likeable character we can all identify with. Fans of Stephanie Plum will love Chrissy's non-street smart intelligence and quirky humor. This is truly a gem of a series. Unscrewed is her third Chrissy McMullen novel.

must reading for fans of Stephanie Plum

They met when she was his number one murder suspect in the death of her mentor.. They were together again over another criminal investigation. Los Angeles psychologist Christina McMullen is having her first date with Police Lieutenant Jack Rivera when his cell phone rings; he informs her that there is troubling involving former senator Miguel Rivera, his father. A suspicious Christina follows Jack to his father's house where she sees the dead body of Salina Martinez, the senator's fiancée, who happened to be Jack's ex-lover. Jack swears he did not kill her claiming he was unconscious. Christina does not want to get involved in another murder case, but does so as Miguel appeals to her to help his son. She does some investigating even after the police determine an accident occurred due to leaking gas as Christine thinks a homicide was committed. Besides five degrees of Rivera, the emotions the protagonists bring out in each other makes the reader wonder whether they will make love or kill one another or both at the same time. Using humor as a tension reliever, Lois Greiman writes a snappy and sharp whodunit with a heroine who went from street smart cocktail waitress to brainy psychologist with a thriving practice. Christine is intelligent, brave and steals the show turning UNSCREWED into must reading for fans of Stephanie Plum. Harriet Klausner
