Something More - An Encounter with the Holy Spirit

The sweet presence of the Lord resonates Joan Galli's writing as she shares stories of divine encounters with the Holy Spirit experienced by members of the Love and Praise Prayer group meeting weekly in her home. "Unless You Become As a Little Child" is engaging, refreshing, and an exciting example of spiritual renewal. Joan takes everyday needs, health issues, family relationships, spiritual hunger, and a concern for sharing the gospel message, and relates how prayer, claiming Scriptural promises, and direct obedience to the Lord are addressed in the Bible. I, personally, was touched and challenged as I responded to story after story allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to my own heart of the promised blessing of yielding to His direct leading. Steeped in a heritage of Catholic tradition, including Trappist monks, Mercy nuns, and a Franciscan priest, Joan shares stories of growing up in a God honoring home of prayer and commitment and of her own discovery of the baptism known as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. As a result of this encounter she also discovered the ministry of prayer and Holy Spirit teaching and the gifts of the same spirit that are available to all through promises of the Bible. I devoured the content of this book in under a few hours. As a faithful and practicing cradle Roman Catholic, with 12 years of Catholic education, never before had I been taught about the Holy Spirit in the manner in which Joan Galli presents Him to her readers. This book is a "Must Read" for all Christians that want to better know the third Person of the Trinity, up close and personal. In particular, this book is for fellow Catholics that want to know what full maturity in our faith looks like. Galli masterfully & winsomely shares the story of her walk with Jesus, as she subtly invites her readers to grow along in their own walk with Him. Galli poignantly shared her memories in a manner that had me both laughing out loud in some places, while choking back tears in others. This book is not fluff. It is a modern day testimony to the power & timelessness of Pentecost, and it is filled with life and hope. While I was reading this book, I felt myself put in another earthly time and place. Upon finishing it, I found myself gently placed in yet another time and place, but within God's eternity. This book is for everyone. I highly recommend it for teens. After finishing "Unless You Become As a Little Child", my prayer is that all young Christians will be taught this rich and full information about our faith, information that Joan Galli so blissfully and beautifully shares with her readers.
