I've spent five years there; I promise I know what's up...

When I decided to go to UF, it was just a guess - it would be free with my state scholarships and there was a big choice of majors. Other than that, and the fact that there were a lot of red bricks involved, I really didn't know anything about this fairly permanent gig I was signing myself up for. And that feeling of being excited yet somehow terminally confused did not exactly disappear when I stepped on campus and realized it was so humongous I couldn't tell the difference between the town and the school. What I needed (really, really badly) was someone better informed than I to tell me where stuff - like food, for instance - was. And how to do small but useful things like operate a campus phone. And what dorms were like, what the heck SNAP stands for, how to find out what professors are cool, and perhaps above all, why a school in Florida rather than Idaho has a landscape so focused on items like the French Fries and the Big Potato. And although my experience at UF has been MORE than worth it, you're a lucky individual who doesn't have to reinvent the information wheel - I did it for you. You will go from high school senior to someone who actually knows what's going on in the G'ville world around his or her Gator self in the time it takes to read this book carefully. And hey, if that's even three weeks less of being clueless and three more weeks of living college life to its fullest... believe me, you'll thank me later.
