This book's 9-by-9-inch format lends itself surprisingly well to 128 pages of magnificent images, many of them two pages wide, captured by Time photographer Neil Leifer and described [briefly] by aviation specialist Bill Sweetman. Little of the book is devoted to below-deck activities; most of the photos concern the flight deck and the skies above. There is no index, and no need of one; this is is a photo-book, pure and simple, of the world's largest warship in action.
