An interesting scholarly point of view

Ruth K. MacDonald's book deals mostly with Shel Silverstein's career as a children's author, which is hardly surprising as it is where he is most popular. The pleasant surprise is that she does tackle his career as a cartoonist and songwriter in some (but not a lot, admittedly) detail. There are factual errors and a few typos, but all in all, not a bad book to read. Specifically designed for the university student or scholar, although it's certainly not above the masses.
