One of my earliest memory was being sat in front of the television as I heard the creaking of a metal ironing board being pulled apart behind me. As I turned, I saw my mom plug in the iron, grab a shirt from the basket next to her and unfold it when the TV finally kicked on and I heard to most strange hypnotic music as a man's voice proclaimed: Like sands through the hour glass...How our mom loved her soap operas. So much so that when I told her (as a child) I wanted to be a writer when I grew up, she looked at me with that look in her eyes and she challenged me to write her an original soap opera. She never criticized my written work even when I knew it wasn't good but she insisted, "practice will make it better." As the years went by I noticed the strength of my style, my inner voice as my poetry continued to grow and make sense. It was then I decided that the time right to start on a soap opera I would name: Unidos Por El Amor. (United By Love.) Just like all soap operas, there really aren't many original stories to tell but there is something to say about the shock value of twisting lives into a pattern that keep audiences coming back for more.I'm not sure how far or successful this book will be but I do know two things, my mom was very proud and excited when she read the completed Volume I and I am relieved that all I need to do now is edit the rest of my books before publishing them.
