Better than House of God

This wonderful portrait of young physician's internship year at the world's finest medical institution paints a realistic portrait of medicine from the inside. The sleep-less nights, the drudgery and exhilirations are wonderfully described, bringing into focus the apprenticeship of every physician. The gradual detachment as a self-defense mechanism is detailed. This troubling account gives the reader the reasons why the healer loses his way, becoming the cold-hearted being in the recent film "The Doctor". As a physician myself, the book is everything I felt but could not express. It far surpasses the current hit series "ER" in both suspense and realism. As a must reader for any medical enthusiast
