Uncle John's Unstoppable Bathroom Reader

This Bathroom Reader is good like all the other Readers that I have read. You cannot go wrong with this one or any other one for that matter. Excellent reading with a great variety of subjects.

Big book of trivia

These books are great. I read about 5 of them. They are nonstop trivia and mostly pointless facts. Each section is 1 - 8 pages, but most are 1 - 3 pages. They are quick and easy reads except for some of the riddles or mind games. Some of the information is a bit questionable; either seemingly inaccurate or presenting opinions as fact. That's ok. Check the facts if you really care, but I look at it as entertainment rather than education.

You can always find time to read Uncle John's Bathroom Readers.

One thing about these Readers is that you never run out. There is a whole series of them to read and even if you read them all;you can start all over again. What else is there to do when sitting on the throne? I suppose you can sing, but eventually you run out of songs. You can whittle, but it makes a mess on the floor. But with these Readers, there is something new and interesting with every turn of the page. There will surely be some things that just don't interest you;so what, just skip to the next thing.Don't miss the liners at ther bottom of each page..some interesting bits of trvia. The variety and scope of the things is what really sets these Readers from any other type of book. For instance, where else can you learn the differences between the political parties ,Democrats,Whigs, and Republicians and how they came about. It is all explained in a few pages. To those who are interested in music, they will find lots of stuff. Something as simple that it was a German,George Graff, who wrote "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling".and he never went to Ireland. For those who like poetry, how's this? "I'm known for my sparkling wit. So when I need a trivial tidbit. It doesn't take long 'Cause I've got Uncle John I just couldn't make doo without it." For those who like bits of trivia, they're here. Brainteasers and quizzes to entertain you. Learn the Hobo road signs and expressions. Then there's Urban Legends. Plenty of proverbs. This is just a taste of what you'll find to occupy yourself and improve your knowledge when you're tied down "taking care of business. However;I must warn you; Leave it laying around, and it'll surely disappear.

Everyone should have a reader

I think everyone should have a bathroom reader. It is so full of fun and interesting facts, I started taking it out of the bathroom and reading it on the train to work. Since the tidbits are so short, it doesn't take much concentration and you can easily pick up anywhere in the book. My husband and I have a great time telling eachother about the things we read in the book.

Great reading in or out of the bathroom

The 16th edition was my first purchase of the series, and now I am probably going to get many more of the books in the series because these are great ways to spend relatively short periods of time and learn so much interesting stuff at the same time. As a bonus, every page has what the authors call "running feet" which is little tidbits of trivia, such as "When a person is dying, hearing is the last sense to go. Sight is the first."Also, since there are over 500 pages in the recent editions, there is plenty of material to read and one won't finish the book all that quickly, especially if it is used in the bathroom alone. The topics in the 16th edition cover just about everything imaginable, from how rock bands got their names, urban legends, history of the bagel, to interesting facts and trivia about hurricanes and everything in between. I would think this book would be a great gift for someone in a hospital and I would think it might make a great travel companion while sitting in airports or hotels, though its size and weight makes it more difficult to pack in carry-on luggage.I wish every doctor and dentist had a set of these books in their waiting rooms! It would make those long waits go by much faster and much more enjoyably. And how about automobile repair waiting rooms? They would be ideal places to have these books for customers to read as they wait. The relatively short length and variety of the entries would be perfect in those environments. If you love trivia or obscure yet interesting facts about the amazing world around us, you will probably enjoy this book and series. It makes spending the time in "the smallest room in the house" a lot more enjoyable and educational.
