An uplifting journey where East and West meet and embrace

Emily's story begins in midlife with her husband suddenly leaving her for a much younger woman, a loss that rocks the very foundation of her identity. Her crisis is emotional but also psychological, her sense of self being so tightly bound to her relationship with her husband and her roles of wife and mother. When encouraged by a friend, Frances, to travel to Nepal for a trekking adventure, Emily accepts. It is in this minimalist environment of the Himilaya Mountains that the West and the East come together to gently embrace Emily's spirit. It is here too, that she finds renewed confidence in her ability to give and receive unconditional love. Nepal brings loss and love to Emily, but in the thinness of the mountain air, the uncluttered lifestyle and the open smiles of strangers, she finds peace and the ability to embrace the suffering and the joy of the journey that is life.

A Really Mellow Read

Uncharted Journey is a true-to-life story with characters you really care about. It is nicely paced and keeps you moving forward as the story shifts from upstate New York to the mountains of Nepal. I genuinely shared the main character Emily's pain as she passed through a number of tragedies but I also celebrated with her as she finally triumphed and her spiritual horizons began to expand.
