knowledge is power

As I've said before there seems to be such an influx of UFO books that seem to pander to the sublime and off-the-wall as a carnival sideshow parades around a bearded lady. That is not the case with "Ultimate Encounter" by Bill Barry. Before I review the specific content, lemme tell you a little bit about this book. I dunno about you, but I hate when I'm trying to decide on a book and this info is not included. The book is a total of 207 pages long, paperback and was first published in May 1978 by Pocket Books. There aren't any photographs included in the book, however there is a drawing on the cover, and a smaller version of it on the back cover. The book has been out-of-print for 30 years, however as you can see, you can still find used copies online. "Ultimate Encounter" examines the Travis Walton case in specific detail. As you probably know, Travis Walton was an AZ man who went missing in the '70s, only to turn up days later with stories of a UFO. That isn't necessarily unique (I am finding that just about everyone has purported to see a UFO), what is unique about his story is that there were multiple witnesses. In fact, it is one of the most important UFO sightings over the last 60 years since Roswell because of it's well-documented accuracy. This is a very short book, but it's packed with a lot of information, which has never been published, before or since. The author examines the entire case of Travis Walton in very precise accuracy. Although it was obvious that the author was leaning towards believing the story, the book also has a ring of impartiality because Mr. Barry provided opinions of non-believers and other points about the case, as well. There is a book also published by Travis Walton, however it's been long out-of-print and the prices for used copies are absolutely obscene. Nevertheless, I find "Ultimate Encounter" to be much superior though. Also from what I understand, Travis Walton sold Bill Barry his non-exclusive story so there are many pages in his own words, that are excerpts from his own book. I strongly recommend "Ultimate Encounter" to anyone who is interested in reading about UFOs, especially to anyone who's just starting to study this. Because the book also details other cases, as well which are all equally riveting. I started studying UFOs over the past year and what I'm finding out is the more I study the more natural it all seems. By nature we as a society are afraid of the unknown, but by reading and studying we are empowered.
