This book, which remains in my personal collection today (it was a gift to me in 1977), is one I still enjoy now as an adult. I laugh out loud as I read it to my own children, who have also enjoyed it for years. Readers can easily make a connection to this book, as we all have our own perspectives on an event -- you see it one way, someone else sees it another way. The pictures are great -- very imaginative -- and have that "vintage" feel that appeals to all ages. It will always be one of my all-time favorites.
Two Sisters and Some Hornets
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 23 years ago
A delightful tale about point of view. Two sisters tell us their view of an event that happened long ago. The stories are completely different and highlight how differently each of us perceives the same event. An excellent learning tool for children and adults. As soon as I can find another copy, I plan to share it with my students who are preparing to be teachers. The whimsical drawings are a perfect counterpoint to the words which perfectly show the connections of the two sisters and the event. This book is good because it doesn't preach, rather puts out an important idea and stimulates us to think about it. An excellent way to help children to begin to tell their versions of family history. An interesting way also of beginning to look at history and how different perspectives are formed of the same event. A wonderful book.
