Hanging out in a park trying to catch bugs and butterflies wasn't high on the list of things kids like to do, but when Miss Fitch, the substitute teacher, decided the class would be doing just that for an afternoon ... well, let's just say there was not much choice. All of a sudden yellow and green meteors began to stream through the cloud cover, over the city skyline and into the park. Miss Fitch's face, surprisingly alarmed for a sub, became contorted and she began to yell, "Get out of the way! Run! Move it!" The kids began to run, scattering quickly as the meteors crashed to the ground. "AIEEEEEE!" Two meteors, one yellow, the other green, have landed side-by-side trapping you. This is the types of book that can keep youngsters busy for long periods of time going back and forth choosing their own "fate" in its pages. I like this type of book where no two readers have exactly the same experience. A few times I found the conclusion of a story not exactly to my liking and went back like a time traveler and changed it. I didn't mind becoming a cook, but the rats were not to my liking. The artwork, a blend between the graphic novel and individual page illustrations, made this work exciting, alive and very dramatic. If you've got a youngster who craves adventure, this series is one you might want to add to your list!
