Heartwarming story

This true story of the rescue ranch and the horses they took in after a tragic highway accident is a heartwarming tale told from the point of view of the "Miracle Colt". Twister introduces the reader to the Longmeadow Rescue Ranch and tells why he is a miracle in poetic prose matched with beautiful pictures. The other rescued horses are introduced in sidebars that add a different reading diminsion to the picture book. This book is suitable for all ages. It can be read on many levels, a picture book, a story of love of horses, and the promise of hope. Ms. Stuckenschneidre says, "Every birth is a miracle,..." and Twist of Fate and his story is one well worth reading.

Great picture book!

Ages 7-10. Animal lovers, and horse lovers in particular, here is the book for you! This beautifully written picture book tells the story of the miracle colt, whose mother survived a horrible wreck when she was pregnant with him. The wreck actually happened in 2006 when a tractor-trailer transporting 42 horses crashed on I-44 in rural Missouri. This is a story that you can read again and again; read the story and then go back and read the insets for more information about other animals that were rescued. You can also learn about Longmeadow Rescue Ranch where many of the animals were taken and cared for. This inspirational story is told by Twist of Fate, the famous colt, in a straightforward and humorous manner. "My name became 'Twist of Fate!' That's more of a mouthful than an ear of corn. So you're welcome to just call me 'Twister.'" The beautifully realistic illustrations are all brought together by a western watermark design repeated throughout. I would highly recommend this wonderful picture book to any horse or animal lover, or anyone who just loves a good story.
