Surprisingly deep D & D homage.

The characterizations in THE TWILIGHT REALM are more complex than one normally gets (with the possible exception of Teresa). Rather than a united group, our five heroes spend much of their time bickering and arguing with one another; tensions run high for much of the adventure. Even the villains and supporting characters feel fleshed out. The battles were mainly well-done, especially the last few in the concluding chapters. My only complaint would be that the final battle wasn't quite long enough, and Teresa's character could get a bit tiresome.

Brilliant!

Absolutly brillent!! Just bloody brilliant!! This one should not go over-looked!! If you liked The lord of the Rings, you'll especially like this one!!

The Twilight Realm

When the evil sorcerer, Avron Kromar, found a passage to the Earth from his world, which is parallel in space with Earth, he gave special powers to five teenagers and led them back to his world, Xhandarre, to play a dangerous game with them. Avron Kromar wanted to play a game with these teenagers because he wants to entertain himself; he is bored with his world in which nobody dared to fight him. In this dangerous game the five teens, Paul, Kate, Willie, Justin, and Teresa, are to find their way to Avron Kromar with the special powers they possess and defeat him, but they didn¡¦t know that they have become puppets of the evil sorcerer in the beginning of their quest. Avron Kromar set up many traps to put the teens in danger during their quest, but he always keep them from dying so the game would last longer. When the five teenagers came face to face with Avron Kromar in his citadel, another sorcerer, Meldorion, appeared to help the teens to destroy him and get back to Earth. This powerful, good sorcerer was thought to be killed by Avron Kromar long ago; however, he survived and waited until the right moment for his revenge. The teens sort of regretted leaving their special abilities behind, but they all managed to face their life on Earth along with its many difficulties. For a story that involves five absolutely amazing abilities and the adventures in a completely different world, this book is way too short. There aren¡¦t enough parts where the teenagers use their powers to defend themselves or to help some Xhandarrians like superheroes. When I counted the number of their encounters with dangerous creatures in Xhandarre, there seemed to be only four. It took twelve short days for the teens to find out where Avron Kromar is and defeat him. How can the author not notice the lack of fierce battles in his book? He even put the picture of the teenagers in the middle of a battle on the cover of this book. I like the climax best out of all the different parts in The Twilight Realm. When the teens are losing under the attacks of the four demons of Avron Kromar, Paul knew what they are doing wrong: they are fighting as individuals instead of as a team. Therefore, he risked getting killed by using part of his power to help his friends. One by one the teens were freed from the continuous attacks of the demons and they faced Avron Kromar together. Then Meldorion came to help by sending bursts of golden lightening bolts toward Avron Kromar. While the evil sorcerer was busy defending himself from the golden lightening bolts from his older opponent, the teens took their time and attacked him with as much force they can muster. Finally, Avron Kromar lost and dissolved into nothing.
