Blows Bliss outa the water!

An excellent, engaging book. And, towards the end, Tomlinson sensitively handles the issue of MBE and the woman in the Apocalypse, unlike the messed up way Bliss Knapp handled that and everything else in his competing book--which was also originally presented for publication but rejected in the 1930s/40s.

Twelve Years with Mary Baker Eddy

Christian Science first came to Mr. Tomlinson's attention in 1894. Within three years he joined The Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, where he later served as President on two different occasions. He was a practitioner, teacher, and lecturer of Christian Science for many years. He taught the Normal class of the Christian Science Board of Education in 1928. In addition, he was engaged in various other activities of the movement. For twelvev years he was closely associated with Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and from 1908 until 1910, as one of her secretaries, he was a member of her household at Chesnut Hill. During the years of his close association with Mrs. Edddy, Mr. Tomlinson kept an account of certain incidents as they occurred. This record supplies much of the interesting material in this book, and refers solely to the life and work of the Leader of the Christian Science movement. Whenever Mrs. Eddy's spoken words are recorded, the author has given them as accurately as his memory permitted, but it is well to bear in mind that it is the sentiment which is expressed rather than her exact words. --- excerpt from Publisher's Notes
