A Methodist clergyman from Dublin recounts travels through the U.S. and Canada over a twelve year period; during much of this time, the lands he examines are rather undeveloped. His book focuses on his experiences at church conferences, and is overwhelmingly concerned with Methodism's rise in the U.S. and Canada, with some attention given to race relations, the status of other religions and their observation in the U.S., and politics in general.
