A fresh, impartial presentation of timeless theological questions that Christians have found puzzling, accompanied by equally differing and valid explanations for them. +
The original Higgins theological excursion into the subtleties and moral morass of the modern christian in the post-existential era. This is the seminal study that sets the theological baseline for all further refinement. A masterpiece of equivocation. I only wish the author had named each dilemma after a specific apostle to further reinforce the theological origins of western morality. The work make's Russell's essay "Why I am not a Christian" obsolete. Bravo! p. tillich
Decisive Decisions

Twelve Theological Dilemmas is a challenging read, not that the book is difficult to understand, but rather one finds him/herself constantly delaying the reading process in order to contemplate pressing theological dilemmas. I found that the book gives adequate coverage of the most profound dilemmas posed to all Christians of the modern world. The success of the book hinges on the notion that we must all inevitably decide for ourselves what we each believe. What is it that coerces one man to hold one set of beliefs while another may hold an entirely opposing set of values and therefore different beliefs? This book challenges each individual to decide for him/herself what is important to him/her. It is not a book of answers. In truth, there are no theological answers. There is no book of theological law. It is all theory, but there are certain choices that must be made. Mr. Higgins certainly possesses a solid foundation of knowledge in the theological realm and he presents it in a fluid manner. With this knowledge the stage is now set for each reader to react however he/she deems fit. It is from this realization, that each person is indeed unique, is indeed special, and does indeed value different aspects of life that the book can be divinely rewarding.
