Celebrated for their courage, vision, hospitality, and spiritual giftedness, it's no wonder women were so important to God's plan revealed in the Old and New Testaments. It wasn't their natural qualities that made these women extraordinary but the power of the one true God whom they worshipped and served. In Twelve Extraordinary Women , you'll learn more than fascinating information about these women, you'll discover-perhaps for the first time-the unmistakable chronology of God's redemptive work in history through their lives. These women were not ancillary to His plan, they were at the very heart of it. Some of the women you'll come to know include: Ruth (Ruth 1-4) Anna (Luke 2:36-38) Martha and Mary, sisters of Lazarus (Luke 10:38-42) Mary Magdalene (Matthew 27:56-61) Sarah (Genesis 11-25) Hannah (1 Samuel 1-2) The Samaritan woman (John 4 Mary, the mother of Jesus (Luke 1-2) You will be challenged and motivated by this poignant and personal look into the lives of some of the Bible's most faithful women. Their struggles and temptations are the same trials faced by all believers in all ages. And the God to whom they were so committed is the same God who continues to mold and use ordinary people today.
'Twelve Extraordinary Women' was delivered on December 14th...fine. The paperback book was heavily water damage throughout the book, mis-shaped, mark on cover showed that water had set on it discoloring it. This is not good condition as rated. I have always been pleased with delivery and condition, even when written in( that's fine).

This is a wonderful tool to help our ladies Bible study group walk through the book "Twelve Extraordinary Women". It is teaching some how to glean all there is to learn from our ancestors.

If I didn't like John MacArthur before I read this book, I would now! Dr. MacArthur took the familiar Bible stories of each of these 12 women and brought out details and made points that I had never realized, even after having read the stories many times before; I repeatedly found myself saying, "I never noticed that before!" The book was an easy but interesting read, and I looked forward to each upcoming chapter. I learned things about the Bible that I had no idea I didn't know! My favorite chapter was the one about Hannah, because Dr. MacArthur confirmed my beliefs that God rewards women who place a priority on their husbands and their children. He phrased Hannah's devotion in eloquent chapter headings: "Love for Her Husband," "Love for Heaven," and "Love for Her Home." In a world where so much emphasis is placed on women's careers and personal ambitions, I applaud Dr. MacArthur's stance throughout the book, but especially in the Hannah chapter, on God's respect for women who humbly put their loved ones above themselves. I have bought copies of Twelve Extraordinary Women as gifts for several ladies I love (and will continue to do so!), and I am planning to teach it in a small group next spring. I would recommend this book for any woman who truly seeks to understand God's agenda for her life.
