Beautiful

I am a Ovarian Cancer Survivor & loved this book. It shows us that even though we have lost our hair we still have beauty. The stories were wonderful. NOCC donated these books to infusion labs. I know that men & women saw this book & it helped them know they were not alone. I recommend this book to everyone.

Soul Medicine

I received this book as a gift and what a wonderful and thoughtful gift it has been! While enduring chemotherapy, I, as many people do, lost my hair. I chose not to wear a wig, scarf or hat. And to see that there are other women who are not afraid to wear their beautiful baldness with pride and determination made me want to read and look some more. Each photo tells a different story and really shows that cancer does not discriminate. Every cancer center, radiation center, physician's office should have a copy on display. It truly is inspirational.

Truly Inspirational

I bought this book for my mother, a breast cancer survivor who had a hard time adjusting to life without her hair. She loved it so much she bought copies of the book and took them to the oncology department for other women to be inspired while enduring their treatments. A must-have for any woman who has gone through this experience.

Great Gift

I purchased 2 copies of Turning Heads -- One was for my mother who lost her hair during chemotherapy to treat her Lymphoma. For a lot of women, the hair loss hits them the hardest because even if they feel well and are carrying on as normal, it is physical evidence that they are, in fact, sick. It brings them back to the reality of cancer. I wanted to remind her that she is beautiful no matter what, and that she shouldn't be ashamed to leave the house simply because of her appearance. She received the book 2 days ago and loved it...she loved the pictures, but especially the stories. It's perfect for anyone who needs a little lifting of the spirits. The other copy I told her to leave in the waiting room of her cancer center....if you haven't been to a chemo room or cancer center before, it's one of the most depressing places you could ever be. I wanted the book to reach as many people as possible, and I hope it does. I highly recommend this as a present for someone who is going through chemo and not quite feeling like themselves. remind them that bald is beautiful, too!

Beautiful Women

I purchased this book as a gift for my mother who lost her hair during her cancer treatment. I found the photographs and stories to be beautiful and inspiring. Each photo is unique to the woman and the photographer. The stories are as varied as the women themselves. Women of all ages and backgrounds are included to show just how indiscriminate cancer can be and how strong and determine women are. I would recommend this book for any woman going through the ups and downs of cancer treatment to remind her just how beautiful bald can be.
