Great book! Better than expected

I bought this book recently and I have other woodturning books. This is really good and clear to follow and practice. What I like about Raffan's books is that they are so clear and so deep that it really doesn't matter your level of skill, you will always find something useful int them. I'd recommend this book together with his video, which is really good and clear as well. I'd also like to recommend his book on the Art of turned bows. It is a great companion for those of us who don't have a formal career on arts and who are creative and want to learn about better bowl designs...!

Very informative and well laid out

Easy to read and easy to follow! I really enjoyed this book and use it as a resource regularly

Excellent book

This book gives great details for the beginning wood turner, covering techniques for cutting blanks from logs, mounting the blank, and the process of turning.

Great resource

Great book, so great I gave mine to a friend and now have to buy it again. This book shows many cuts and techniques that turners need to understand turning bowls. Recommended for any personal or club library.

Quick Study

This book, and a couple others (I bought a set of 3) catapulted my turning abilities from novice to salable in a just a few projects. More importantly, as I improved, I've saved many hours and sheets of sandpaper. His explanations, photos, and diagrams combine to make lathe turning very understandable and even more fun than I expected. Even some of the techniques that gave me some trepidation I now find routine. If you have a lathe or thinking about it, this book and others by the same author (Turning Wood is the basics) are highly beneficial.
