Had reality shows been around in the 1970's the hard working and wildly interesting Lambert family would have been television celebrities. What a top rated show that would have been. Upon discovering that Emily Lambert had a sequel to Tugging on a Heart String, I could not wait to get my hands on a copy of it. Lambert writes with disarming and unflinching honesty, leaving the reader feeling as though they've known the family for years. And what a family it is. Both father and mother, licensed tug boat operators (the mother being the first licensed female tug boat operator in the U.S.) and five children, all daughters, all taking their turn crewing on the family tug. The family owned it's own tug and operated day and night 365 days a year. Allison and Emily Lambert were the second and third, in that order, licensed female able bodied seaman out of Norfolk, their mother being the first. After reading Tugging on a Heart String, the first book, you are going to want to know as much more about this fascinating family as you can learn, and here it is in the sequel. Few families can claim to have lived such full and exciting lives as have the Lamberts. The work that they accomplished together as a family was extremely challenging and at once rewarding and character building. What a pleasure to have such wonderful memories shared so openly and honestly with the reader.
