historically inaccurate review

I am not sure about the previous reviewers historical education, but if Elizabeth the first had a last name, it was Tudor. The Elizabethan and blackwork that the previous reviewer claims is not Tudor, is absolutely Tudor, as the Elizabethan period is a subset of the Tudor period. The Elizabethan portion of the Tudor period is considered the hight of Tudor art. This book is wonderful, AND historically accurate. Henry the VIII, was Elizabeth's father. The Stuarts, who reigned after Elizabeth, her cousins, are also considered a subset of the Tudor period. The book is great.

Elizabethan Embroidery a Better Title

Not the most accurate book. All of the period blackwork examples are late Elizabethan or Jacobean. Several projects, such as the cushions and bags with embroidered slips and the embroidered scene, are Elizabethan and not Tudor. The blackwork motifs are late Tudor/ Elizabethan. Very nice little book with several very nice projects, but would be more appropriate for someone working on Elizabethan embroidery. Would be excellent as an Elizabethan/Jacobean embroidery book! Instructions are clear and concise, very nice project ideas which may be adapted for period or modern uses. Again, highly recommend for later periods, but only one of two are appropriate for the earlier Tudor period. Remove one star for title.
