Money Power Respect...

Sometimes the dirt you do in the streets comes back to haunt you in the worse way. The streets can welcome you and desert you in the same breath. Terrance (a.k.a. Youngblood) knew only one thing...the streets. Youngblood was a stick-up kid who lived by the code of the streets: Loyalty and Respect. But circumstances change Youngblood's mindset when he's put in situations involving matters of the heart. Baby mama drama is no stranger to Youngblood, and the women he chooses to deal with could cost him his chances of stacking his paper. After a stint in prison, Youngblood needs to rebuild his empire, but will the choices he makes cost him his chance of being on top? Shan is Youngblood's baby mother, and the rules of the street is that Shan is suppose to hold her man down no matter what the situation is and stay away from her man's friends. When Youngblood is sentenced to a short stint in prison, Shan does the exact opposite. Her legs stay open like a 24 hour store, and the ultimate betrayal comes when she sleeps with her man's partner and friend and is now carrying his child. A chain reaction causes Shan to reevaluate the choices she makes. Will Shan straighten up and be a mother to her child, or will she reap what she sows and suffer the consequences? Lonnie was Youngblood's partner and mentor. Lonnie bought Youngblood in the game and schooled him as a big brother. When Youngblood was sixteen years old, Lonnie put him on, and their bond was thicker than thieves. Loyalty was the code they lived by. Lonnie and Youngblood looked out for each other, did dirt together and through it all, their relationship remain true. When Youngblood is released from prison, Lonnie introduces him back into the only life he is accustomed to and what is guaranteed to bring in money fast. But when Youngblood accepts side deals from others outside of their circle, could those choices cause there relationship to be tested? Trust No Man was a book I definitely couldn't put down. The struggles this young man endured related to the many challenges we all face in life. Do you choose the straight and narrow life, or do you chose the life that can get you enemies, jail time, and or even killed? Youngblood was no nonsense, but through it all he wanted to be involved in his children's life. I think that Cash is right on point with the portrayal of the struggles that a lot of young African-American women and men go through. The choices you make and the enemies you create by doing dirt can cause you a lot heartache and pain in your life. The characters were ones that everyone could relate to, either on a personal level or just from different situations and struggles we have all encountered one time or another. I cannot wait to read Trust No Man Part 2. Reviewed by Kristin for Urban Reviews

I Trust No Man but I Trust this Book

Trust No Man is a gritty street tale of the life of Youngblood who is trying to graduate from stick up kid to major player in the crime game. Taken under the wing of loyal friend Lonnie, Youngblood's no holds barred attempt to become king of the streets is marred with baby mama drama in the form of Shan and Cheryl (who when you read about them, you will hear R. Kelly's "When a Woman's Fed Up" in the background), bust it babies galore, foes that were friends (in the form of Shotgun Pete) and warring factions of drug dealers. When Youngblood turns from hired stick up kid to full fledge contract killer, Youngblood soon realizes he isn't the ONLY one who can make his trigger finger do the talking as he realizes that he is not only the predator but also the prey to an unknown foe. I loved this book because it gives you a look into the gritty, sordid street life of Atlanta where the ballers and dope boys are the celebrities and everyone wants to be known. It also shows you that when you want attention, you bring the positive and negative as the crab in a barrel mentality permeates throughout the scene-reminding you of the age old adage-"be careful what you wish for". Youngblood represents the duality in most people caught up in a life of crime in that the thing you love is also the thing you hate: MONEY and FAME. Youngblood wants money and fame and will do anything to get it-the end will always justify the means to Youngblood. But at the same time, the money and fame keeps him thirsting for it, like an addiction, where he will compromise himself and his family for the almighty dollar. Mo' money does equal mo' problems for Youngblood. When a glimmer of hope in the form of Juanita offers Youngblood a way out, will he take it? Will his sister's involvement and abuse at the hands of a fellow dope boy change Youngbloodz view on the paper chase as well as his views on people just likes him? Will losing his children make him realize that there are more important things to life than money? Will a second near death experience finally put things in proper perspective? Or will Youngblood finally reap what he has sown in his young life? Get ready because when the thief gets robbed himself, all hell will break loose-which will lead into Part 2! I HIGHLY recommend this book and can't wait for Part 2.

Youngblood: The Breakthrough Character

Trust No Man is an amazing story, start to finish. Though it might not be everyone's cup of tea due to the graphic violence and intense scenography, it will grow on everyone. Youngblood is an amazing character, as he isn't a cassanova, or anything cliche. He's the gritty human version of the streets. I suggest this book to anyone who's looking to keep on the edge of their seats as they would in an action-filled movie!

Can't wait for the next book!

I thought this book was excellent. I read my fair share of "hood/street lit" and I was a little apprehensive about reading another. I mean how many was can the game be told? But I was pleasantly surprised with Cash's rendition of the game/thug life. I felt his depth with regard to Terrance/Youngblood's feelings was unique and mesmerizing. I still can't decide whether I love or hate Terrance/Youngblood; whether his goods outweighed his bads. I definitely feel he deserved what happened in the end.

Love It! "I Can't Wait For Part 2"

This book really had me going, Trust No Man is a really good read and I would recommend this book to any body that loves to read drama, mayhem and sex! ("My kinda book!" lol )
