This is a terrific geology text - and it's written from a perspective of a Western U.S. geologist, so it has a focus on orogenies past the Appalachian (lulz). The only thing I can say with respect to the technical accuracy is that it was written by Cooper right around the time some of the radiometric dating techniques became available, so some of the ages don't match if you compare it to a modern text. Also, because of it's vintage, it's "less glamorous" than a text with 4-color diagrams and tons of color photos. This doesn't prevent it from being an outstanding overview of the geological sciences and a terrific value. Any budding geologist would be well advised to have this text in his/her library.A Trip Through Time: Principles of Historical Geology
