When I was a child, my school library had the hardcover copy of this book, and my sister and I checked it out EVERY year for over Christmas vacation. It is such a fabulous book, and finding out that it is (perhaps) available again is so wonderful. The book has carols from all over the world, and includes the sheet music, and short histories of many of the pieces. A fanatastic resource for anyone who loves Christmas music.
The Best Christmas Music Book Ever Compiled
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
My grandfather worked for Houghton-Mifflin. That means every Christmas we got books. In 1958 I got this book. The piano arrangements are so much better than first level piano books, but not so difficult that a casual pianist can't enjoy them. Alas, what was once hardcover is now softcover; color drawings are now black and white. But the interesting history of each piece (similar to that which one would find in the Oxford Book of Carols) is still there. Many of the pieces have guitar chords, but this is primarily a piano book. Included are many foreign carols with both English and original language. I would clamor for this book!
