Hanging on the edge of my seat,

I have never been a reader, this lady can write some very good, interesting stories. I'm hooked! There isn't a dislike for any one of Jennifer Fallon's books, all are 100% nail biters.

Just as good as book one.

I loved Treason Keep just as much as I did Medalon. I can't wait to get Harshini so I can finish the trilogy. I am excited to start reading Fallon's many other trilogies.

Better than Medalon

Jennifer Fallon has quite a good skill in writing plot-driven fantasy. In Medalon, she provided an excellently twisting narrative that kept things moving briskly while at the same time changing paths to keep you guessing. Added to it was a dash of political intrigue handled in an exciting and very readable manner that never bogged down the action or the story. My biggest complaint about Medalon was the character development. Mainly, the characters all had their roles to fill and they rarely (if ever) stretched very far past their roles. You had Loclon, the handsome antagonist who becomes scarred and is filled with hatred. You had Joyhinia, the scheming mother who is a bad seed and causes nothing but trouble. And you had the protagonists, Targ who comes across as more altruistic than anything and R'shiel. They never really broke free of their roles and you don't see much change except the possibility of their hatred/altruism growing stronger. Not saying the characters aren't interesting, but as far as complex? There are more complex characters out there. Now we have Treason Keep and it is even better and Fallon has made strides to help the characters. She also introduces one of my favorite in the series in Adrina. Adrina is a fun character and she actually has a definite progression in this novel that is fun, humorous and exciting to watch grow. But the best part of these novels is the plot and the pacing and I'm happy to report that Fallon keeps Treason Keep's plot moving quick and exciting. Fans of Medalon will revel in the twisting plot and how things wrap up at the end, setting up the final book which I hope will be truly climactic. If you enjoyed Medalon, I would definitely recommend continuing with the series. This novel is a huge step in the right direction. I hope this trend continues for the epic conclusion.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES!

This was such a good read and I totally can't wait for the next installment. I may even pay retail! Yes, it's that good. This is a keeper and is going to receive place of honor in my personal library.

Fallon has yet to lose steam

In the second of her "Demon Child" Trilogy, Fallon has once again delivered. For the fans of the first book, this book has everything you loved about Medalon and more. Tension has reached a fever pitch in the northern borders of Medalon, and now the reader will see some real action. In the middle of the conflict, a new character is thrown in, Princess Adrina. At first glance she sounds like a snobby princess (well, she really is), but as the story goes on she becomes much more complex. Adrina is one of those ruthless politicians you'll absolutely love. R'shiel is growing too, learning to accept her destiny and gaining more of the calmer Harshini attributes as well. And naturally, the gods are still around and meddling so well they give the Greek gods a run for their money. The pace is once again well set, one of this series finest attributes. "Treason Keep" was utterly engaging, and now I can't wait to read "Harshini." I'm sure it will be just as good as the last two.

exciting sword and sorcery thriller

Though succeeding along with her half brother Tarja in their revolt against their obsessed mother, ruling First Sister of the Blade of Medalon, R'shiel is dying and the kingdom is in trouble from outside invaders seeing an opportunity to take advantage of weakness. Tarja and his small loyalists struggle to stop the Karien invasion. R'shiel's only hope to survive is to somehow find and convince the magical Harshini healers to save her life. The Harshini agree, but R'sheil must pay the price. Though the healers vow never to kill, they use others to handle the dirty work as fees for services rendered. R'shiel must destroy the Karien God Xaphista. Meanwhile alliances are forming. Tarja joins with the Warlord of Krakander, Damin Wolfblade while the kingdom of Fardohyna, through a regal marriage of Princess Adrina, forges a partnership with Karien. However, betrayal and personal agendas are everywhere. Book Two of the Hythrun Chronicles (see MEDALON for the first tale) is an exciting sword and sorcery thriller that focuses more on the adventures of Damin and Adrina rather than the half-siblings, overall stars of the series. The story line hooks the audience as it moves along the four prime subplots until all converge in a terrific climax. Though like most fantasy miniseries, readers are better off starting with the first chronicle as references allude back to it, newcomers will still appreciate this strong tale that never slows down until that final convergence of heroes and villains.
