I'm an embroiderer who one day on a whim decided to put some batting in between two cuts of fabric and stitch an outline design. No one in my embroidering or quilting circles knew how to refer to this type of textile art. I finally discovered the world of trapunto, and this book has so many wonderful, inspiring images of raised stitching/quilting, exactly what I had been engaged in for months but didn't know what to call it. As an embroider, trapunto seems more in line with stitch art than quilting, but anyway, I'm glad I discovered the name and this wonderful book. FYI, it is old, and has a very folksy art vibe to it. If you're looking for modern inspiration, this might not be for you. There are a few project ideas as well. Most pages are black and white, a few in color.
