The only bad thing about this book is that it is getting a little long in the tooth. It was printed in 1997. But despite its length and the nature of the subject (I know many people think that logistics ranks right up there with actuarial science for "reading-to-fall-asleep-to") the author has performed an excellent service in providing this book. It is a well written introduction to the field of logistics written in short and simple language. I bought the book looking for more knowledge about the industry as a speculator, and didn't find it a bit daunting. So if you are the least bit curious about logistics this is a great book to start out with....you'll learn about the various fields (and career opportunities if you are a student) as well as some of the basic terminology. This is a great source for information about other organizations and certifications as well. A good reference for starters. The author should update this book as I have found nothing like it currently out on the market.
