Tough Plants

This book gives a nice overview of groundcovers, floweres, shrubs and bushes, and small trees that will grow in tough conditions. Each plant entry has a series of symbols so it is easy to see at a glance if that plant is suitable for your conditions. The photos of each plant are beautiful. The text is easy to read with descriptions and planting and care directions for each plant. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order by the Latin name making it a little hard to find specific plants. This book has suggestions for about every climat in the continental US, and therefor, does not give indepth guides for very specific climat conditions. I didn't have an idea what to plant, as shown by the dead flowers planted last spring, so I found this book to be a good starting guide. In about 30 minutes time, I found 20 plants that meet my hot, dry, sunny, bad soil conditions in southern Missiouri.
