In ancient times, the tribes of the Florida Everglades lived a life rich with tradition and ritual. But it was the shaman, endowed with his wisdom, knowledge of the spiritual world, and powerful visions, who guided his people. Mi-sa, the shaman's daughter, was born under a shooting star and inherited his magical gifts. But she was misunderstood by her clan and feared as a spirit of the Darkside. Great get away.

I do like these types of books for a retreat from the present day. Totally relaxing and fun read. Read it in one sitting. Ms McKee is talented .

Weaving historical fiction....

I have followed Mi-Sa and the other wonderful characters that Lynn Armistead McKee has created. I am sorry to say that I did read her series out of order so it was a bit confusing. Once I finished all of the series I was able to piece the story together in the order that it was intended. I read the second half of Mi-Sa's journey first, and fell in love with her then. I was able to fall in love with her all over again. Lynn was able to intricately describe the scenery and daily lives of her characters. Her characters were unique from one another and well defined. I watched relationships grow and fall apart in her story. The plot steadily thickened and enticed us with exciting events. As mentioned by a previous reader, there are sex scenes. However, I feel that sex is a part of our daily lives and that is the way it should be portrayed in the book. It is meant for adult readers and sex should not be avoided to appease those that are too prude to realize such a fact. There is not enough sex to where it would be considered overwhelming or distracting from the plot though. Lynn was able to write her words in such a way that I was able to mentally see the story unfold like a well directed movie. This book is my least favorite of the series though, but not because this book was lacking. It was merely a choice between which characters I enjoyed more than others. Overall, I loved the book. My only regret is that Lynn Armistead McKee will not continue to weave more historical fiction, since she definitely has a gift for it.

This is a keeper!

Love this book! I didn't think it was quite as good as Woman of the Mists but this is still one of my favorites!

Ms.McKee brings pre-historic Florida to life with passion!

Woman of the Mists was a good first book but "Touches" is much better. Mi-sa is a character that really makes you want to pull for her. She has a very rough childhood; bad day to be born, a gift that appears to be a curse, a crazed(an armed) older woman who hates her and a very...well, don't want to give the story away. A very good read and a good take off for the rest of the series. A vivid portral of the ancient swamps of the Everglades.
