It is rare to hear of an experience such as this. Caroline Atoll is uninhabited, really uninhabited. Nothing of anything, except what you bring or build. It was sad that the family was eventually made to leave. Looking at the atoll today in Google Earth, there is once again no sign of anything or anyone there. I thoroughly enjoyed this excellent book about one of the least continental spots of dry land on the planet.

I met Ron Falconer on Moorea on a recent trip to Tahiti. He is a wonderful writer and his book is engrossing. His story of how he and his family moved to an island "in the middle of nowhere" is told simply, and with much philosophical reflection. The end of the book is touching and is a parable for our times.
Awesome survival story

I first heard about this book when I was on Holiday in Tahiti. The author happens to also be a brilliant musician, I met him at a gig on the island of Moorea. Best night on the holiday. It's a real page turner, could not put the book down, easy to read, and absolutely fascinating. Most amazingly, it's a true story of survival. It's a beautifully written book. Great guy, Great book, Great story.
