Discusses the natural history, selection, care, and breeding of the terrestrial turtles commonly known as tortoises. This description may be from another edition of this product.
What defines a Tortoise? It does not have webbed feet. Hence, box turtles aren't tortoises. This book is very readable, and has beautiful photographs of its animal subjects (for those of us who are turtlely inclined!). Jerry G. Walls does a good job of getting to points quickly so you walk away from the book demystified about these animals which are becoming more common in the pet trade, but which are more delicate to keep than many realize. I would strongly recommend the book to anyone with an interest in the subject, but especially to anyone who is considering aquiring a tortoise. Reading this could make the difference between life an death for your pet.
