Almost too good for its genre

This is an astonishingly -- almost painfully -- honest and down-to-earth "self-help" book. It is beautifully written too, which makes it easier to take. It doesn't try to convince us we are wonderful or spiritual; it does tell us how to survive in the real world of work and ongoing relationships with our humanity intact. It is self-help for grown-ups, just as my book Radical Middle is politics for grown-ups. Robert, wherever you are, I salute you as a brother and owe you much.
