My Dream Man!

Author T. T. Henderson vividly describes the scents, sounds and disaster areas of New Orleans in her book, TOO MUCH HENNESSY. Returning home to face the aftermath of the horrid effects of Hurricane Katrina, Hennessy James Walker leaves his jazz band, Whiskey Trio, in California to bury his father. Reuniting with his mother and sister, they must determine whether the man found in the ruined, water-damaged successful and popular bar, Blues N Booze, was indeed the dapper owner and father, Karlem AKA Boozie Walker. Hennessy is a trumpet player and slide guitarist with a smooth sexy voice. A college graduate, he decides he cannot live without his music, so he sets out to perform throughout the country with his band. Unfortunately, his return trip to California is delayed when he arrives in New Orleans and finds himself mediating the strained relationship between his mother and sister. During his trip he meets a psychic, the gorgeous and beautiful, Deja Devine. Deja is determined to be with Hennessy who never stays in one place too long. T.T. Henderson has succeeded at vividly describing the destruction and painstaking experience of rebuilding that Hurricane Katrina victims are facing on a daily basis. Although I have never visited New Orleans, Henderson's strong characterization and intriguing plot made me feel as if I were being subjected to the same commotion and sense of hopelessness detailed in her book. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy stories about love, romance, close families and the pursuit of overcoming life-threatening obstacles. Reviewed by RM Jackson for The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

3.5 Sometimes Dreams Really Do Come True!

Hennessy James Walker, jazz musician, returns home upon learning about his father's death Boozie Walker, at the hands of hurricane Katrina. Everything seems the same, other than the devastation caused by the hurricane. Hennessy's mother and sister are still at each other's throats and his mother still hates his father's guts for leaving her over a decade ago. With all this drama, it is understandable that Hennessy wants to get back to doing what he loves and that is his music. He lives for playing his music and decides it is his true calling. He is given hope when he meets the beautiful Deja Devine, a psychic, who tells his family that Boozie is indeed alive. Deja Devine feels that Hennessy is the man for her but she knows he is a man who will not allow himself to be tied down to anyone. Deja still wants him regardless and she is willing to do anything to make sure she gets her man, even if it means meeting him in their dreams. Will danger keep these two apart or will they fight against the odds to make things work? Readers will enjoy how T.T. Henderson displays life for residents after hurricane Katrina and the dynamics surrounding the characters. Readers are shown all spectrums of life after a disaster, from a musician who has come to visit a town he so desperately wants to get away from to a mother struggling with the demons of her drug addicted past to a man running away from danger in order to keep his family safe from harm to a woman who is trying her best to keep her head above water while taking care of her ailing mother. While Too Much Hennessy is a great read, I found myself wishing Hennessy's abilities were shown more. The character seemed to have a natural ability that he did not know existed but one he could learn how to use in the future. With heart pounding intensity, Too Much Hennessy takes readers on a ride they will not soon forget. I recommend this book for readers looking for a little romance and suspense with a paranormal twist. Reviewed by Chantay W. APOOO BookClub
