I picked this book up as a random read on a vacation and it turned out to be amazing. Her imagery is fantastic as she weaves a bloody gangster fairytale set in grimy london. I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical about this read as I am a big reader of Arthurian Legend. Yet, Bidisha puts this story together so flawlessly and it's so well written that you forget her literary reference to Arthur and get sucked into the world of Rex and his nasty pals. After I got home, I immediately gave this book to a friend because I think Bidisha's work here is so good that it needs to catch on!

so i found this book in the library and decided to cop it. mainly, because of the jacket design. but my naive trust turned into devout benefit after i had read a few chapters. Bidisha does not have a brilliant, imaginative, beautiful style of writing but her talent for story-teling and character development is extraordinary. there are no unneccessary descriptions, metaphors or pretentious symbolism lurking in theses pages. she displays a breath taking view of destruction on every level that will surely entomb anyone reading this book. i recall desiring to own a gun throughout most of the book...
