Best Christmas Ever

Hi Everyone - This is a delight to read to your Grandchildren. Illustrations are beautiful - I would recommend this to all - for all ages. My grandchildren are between 1-1/2 years and 13 years - they wanted me to read it to them over and over. Thanks Janine for a lovely book.

Wonderful Book for Grandchildren

FINALLY, a book for my preschool grandchildren that explains the true meaning of Christmas. Jeannine Q. Norris captures a mother's love for her baby and shares it with her young audience in a delightful way. "Tonight You Are My Baby" is the book I have been looking for and one that I have already shared with two young children nestled on my lap.

Poignant Christmas story

Although we have many versions of the Christmas story for children, Jeannine Q. Norris' retelling in verse is especially poignant. All mothers are awed by the birth of their children and Mary was especially in awe of her "baby" who would someday be a king. Tim Ladwig's illustrations truly capture the beauty of the relationship between mother and child as presented in this Nativity story told in poetic verse. This book is perfect to be read aloud to children from pre-school to grade 1. Second and third graders will enjoy reading the text themselves as will expectant mothers. Tonight You Are My Baby is a gift waiting to be unwrapped and would make a wonderful addition to any family's Christmas collection.

A Mother's Love

TONIGHT YOU ARE MY BABY reads like poetry with lyrical language, and a repeating refrain, "Tomorrow you will be King, But tonight you are my baby. What sets this book apart from other nativity stories is that it's told from Mary's viewpoint. "I kiss your tiny fingers and little perfect head, Lay you in the manger that tonight will be your bed." I read it through twice, and on the third time simply looked at the gorgeous illustrations. This book would make a nice Christmas gift for the preschool set.

The book focuses on Mary holding her newborn and feeling the overwhelming love that every mother feels. Repeated throughout the book is the phrase, "Tomorrow you will be King, But tonight you are my baby . . ." Cayden: "Is that Baby Jesus on the cover? And his mommy?" Max: "Mommy riding horse!" Cayden: "It kind of looks like the pony that we rode today." Cayden: After learning that it is a donkey: "They rode him to the barn. Look the donkey is kissing the baby!" Cayden: "I liked the story of baby Jesus when he was just born. My favorite part of the book was when we kept saying the last part of what you said about "tonight you are my baby" before you read it! I remembered it all of the time because it was in there a lot. I liked the pictures of the animals too! " Parent's comments: "Tonight You Are My Baby" takes a very sweet look at the bond between a mother and a child. It is a wonderful story about the true meaning and miracle of Christmas. My children really enjoyed the repetition of the phrases and both chimed in when I got to those parts in the book. "Tonight You Are My Baby" by Jeannine Q. Norris would make a great Christmas book for any child in your life.
