Tonia the tree learns that change is part of growing and living and should not be feared. This description may be from another edition of this product.
"Tonia, the Tree" by Sandy Stryker is a great book to share with children hesitant in having to experience change. It doesn't matter if the change is moving from one city to another, an old house to a new one, or leaving home for that first day of school. Acceptance of change is ageless. It is a personal and sensitive issue that can affect anyone regardless of age, at any time in life. Artistically using the skill of personification, author Sandy Stryker does a beautiful and effective job addressing this challenging issue on a child' s level with "Tonia, the tree". To me, this work addresses the child's need to understand change as "Who Moved My Cheese?" by Spencer Johnson M.D. addresses the adult's need. Itoko Maeno's illustrations utilize color, characters, plants and scenery so beautifully that the emotions of change are very visual and add to the child's comprehension of change. Though this is a children's book, its message is so beautifully conveyed for any age. As a parent and a teacher, I am very thankful to Ms. Stryker and Ms. Maeno for this literary contribution. It will be a great resource to use in helping the children in my life as they face and experience change.
