Great introduction to the near-future

I first read this book when I was about 6 years old, got it at the library (god knows why they even had it in my small town library).I definitely consider it a kind of intro-level look at cyberpunk and near-future fiction. It is, to my best recollection, a collection of short stories, all with a near-future slant. Some of the stories (the one entitled Tomorrow's TV I belive) are rather dark, almost evoking kind of a Dr. Seuss meets William Gibson kind of feeling. Honestly, the plot of that subsection kind of struck me as a natural extension of the kind of plotlines seen in movies like "Blade Runner" and "Logan's Run" into children's-book territory. Not to make the book sound overly dark though, the characteristic Distopic settings of Cyberpunk are toned down to be well-managable for the average 3rd to 5th grader.All in all I would **highly** recommend this book for anyone who wants a childrens book that stretches beyond the standard fantasy-fare. I think that the hints of the cyber-genere's characteristic moral ambiguity could also be a great way to open dialogs about many of the topics presented....
