Today's Best Read

The plot of this book is as described elsewhere. Whether you read Radclyffe's series books, like the Justice series or the Honor series or the Provincetown series, or you read one of her stand-alone romances, you can not go wrong. I have been reading lesbian fiction for many years, and can honestly say that I have never come across a writer that has so affected me. Her characters are strong, intelligent, and romantic. Naysayers will say that Radclyffe's characters are too perfect almost never flawed - either in looks or character. That may be true, but aren't you tired of the genre's penchant for ordinary? Radclyffe's characters are always enchanting, intoxicating, enticing, and intense. The stories, particularly in the series books, are all first class. Most of her series books are page-turners. And in two of the books, I actually turned to the last page to make sure that the main characters survived - something I never do. Radclyffe let us believe, at least for the duration of each of her books, that the grand passion, the true love, the happy-ever-after are all possible. She lets us believe that being a strong, intelligent woman does not mean that we will be alone and/or isolated. The only caveat I have is to read the series books in order. And if you enjoy watching a writer grow, then read the non-series books in the order they were written and watch Radclyffe's talent grow before your very eyes.

Great characters, as always

What makes Radclyffe a great writer is her character development. I first read this book on-line (like most of her books) and was really impressed. The two main characters are both interesting and pretty believable. I will say that her two main characters in most of her books have the same feel to them, but when you enjoy something a lot it doesn't matter how many times you experience it. The ending feels incomplete in that i'd like to know what comes next, so i'm still hoping for a sequel. Also, check out her Love & Honor and Safe Harbor series if you enjoy this one.

Awesome and heart wrenching

Once again Radclyffe has written a book where you can feel the emotions of the characters.Adrienne has escaped her own tortured world, expecting to be left alone, but along comes Tanner... Radclyffe's character development and love scenes are the best in lesbian fiction today. You become invested in the characters and want to know if there is a happy ending.

What are you willing to face for love?

I never have to read a Radclyffe book to know that I'm going to rate it 5 stars. Her writing is always good and consistent. She has me so hooked that I read them online and then have to read the printed book to see how she has improved the story. This book shows how important that can be. There is more depth to the story here than the online version. Basically, you have a woman who is trying to hide on an island while she tries to assess her life and what she should do with it in the face of potentially devastating news. She thinks she has no future. And she meets another woman who is living on the island, but it is an empty life that appears to have little purpose. Neither one is looking for love, but they find themselves drawn together. If they acknowledge their love, can they face an uncertain future together? Find out.

Heartbreakingly Hopeful

I was drawn in immediately by these passionate characters. If Tanner is a raging tide, then Adrianne is the calm below the surface. If you are going to pick up the book and read it, don't expect to get anything else done that day. You'll ignore the phone, the knocks at the door, and quite possibly the pleas of loved ones, just to finish this story. I have read all of Rad's writing and this is definitley one of my favorites. Rad captures intensity and compassion so beautifully, you forget you are reading a book and not experiencing these feeling first hand.Well done.....would a sequel be too much to ask ;-)
