Excellent Zombie Novel!

I liked this story a lot. The plot was interesting and well written. It also provided a nice dramatic timeline for its events and didn't go off into a weird "supernatural powers" tangent. A good read for zombie setting fans.

A very promising start to the Tomes of the Dead series of books

The Words of Their Roaring is a standalone undead tale that takes place in London in modern times. We are introduced to Gabe, a henchman working for a gangster, Harry Flowers, several years after the undead have risen. Harry is taking full advantage of this new world order and is positioning himself to be the power in the city since the government has essentially started to fall apart and has very little control. He has several scientists he has kidnapped working on ways to make the undead serve his needs so that he will have even more power. The story steps back in time to introduce us to Gabe before he worked for Harry, just before the undead rose several years before, then towards the end of the novel leaps forward past the initial point in the tale. We are given an excellent understanding of Harry, Gabe, and the scientists who created the virus which mutated the dead into the undead. The characters are real and vital (no pun intended) and we get to see what I considered a reasonable transition of the zombies from mindless flesheaters into something more advanced and far more dangerous. The story is extremely accessible and well written, with a great flow from start to finish. It bodes well for the other books in the Tomes of the Dead series, which there are three of at this point and at least one more book is being published later this year. If you are looking for a good, entertaining, well written zombie tale, this book is definitely for you.

An unusually good zombi story

I was positivly suprised by this book. I love zombie stories but I prefer the classic zombie over the modern (smart, fast etc.) so many new zombie stories leaves me a bit dissapointed. This is however a really good mixture of both new and classic zombie fiction. This novel is also unsusually smart, especially for a zombie novel! And don't expect to much graphic violence, it doesn't even come near The Rising (by Keene) and the like. The epilog is a mind twister, if anybody cares to discuss it here I'm in!

Don't judge a book by its cover.......

.....or by its title. This post-apocalyptic zombie tale is well thought out. Starting from the prologue to the final chapter. The experiment thats leads upto the zombie invasion is quite interesting and almost believable. The gangster type qualities of Flowers in his attempt to harness the zombies for his own 'world domination' scheme, lead to twist and turns that make this a real page turner. Any lover of the zombie genre will find this a welcomed addition to their walking dead collection.
