Book Overview

Adventures of Tom Sawyer - Here is a light-hearted excursion into boyhood, a nostalgic return to the simple, rural Missouri world of Tom Sawyer, his Aunt Polly, and his friends Huck Finn and Becky. It is a dreamlike world of summertime and hooky, pranks and punishments, villains and desperate adventure, seen through the eyes of a very special boy. For adults it re-creates the vanished dreams of youth. For younger readers it unveils the boundaries...

Bait & Switch

I ordered a two volume set in a nice case and they sent me a weird, one book thing instead. No pictures. Just awful! I am so disappointed!!!

Have been reading through this book. Found 2 pages torn out so far.

The story is great, but incomplete due to missing pages.

Disappointed

I ordered this for my 7 year old and received it today with pages 1-7missing...very upset

A classic for a reason!

Tom Sawyer and the sequel Huck Finn are two amazing books. Mark Twain is intelligent and funny and even though the titles aren't the brand new New York Times novels we're used to they remain poingaunt and entertaining. These books are a cheap must-have for any reader who enjoys adventure, humor, childhood, and the Mississippi River.

Building a classic library for a granddaughter

I bought this for my 12-year old granddaughter as part of an effort to build a classics library for her -- the schools don't seem to require that they be read any more --she read it through, so I guess that the effort was worthwhile.

A Trip back

This was a trip back for me in two ways. For one, it takes place in a different time when life was a little simpler. Also it takes me back to the first time I read it. I am 50 years old and haven't read this since elementary school. Even though it is set back in time, I could relate to the feelings of these young boys and remember well that time of my life. It's a must read for your kids (particularly boys) and anyone who has or has not read it. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long time.
