Best In the Series

What do you get when a crime novel marries a techno-thriller? This book, which is the best yet in what has become my favorite series. A stylish, clever, exciting, and suspensful read.

LOVED IT,WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY

I thought this novel was the best. Period. And as to Adam from Wasau, Wisconsin, a previous reviewer -- before you take a shot at ANY writing job, or a stab at another of these reviews, or even a crack at making out a check or addressing an envelope, try to get your spelling right . . . or find some very, very patient editors (not "editor's", as you wrote) to assist you, since I think you'll need an army of them due to your severely (is that what you mean by "severly", whicn isn't an English word?) atrocious grammar. Nonetheless -- "non-the-less" isn't a word in my dictionary, either -- it's too bad you were dissapointed with the book (uh, ummm, now you've got me messing up. The correct spelling is "disappointed", but I'd better cut out of here before the misspelling bee that obviously stung you multiple times buzzes my way).A parting word of advice before I go: Given your problems with the language, maybe you ought to take another look at the novel and read over the sentences that are supposedly missing all those "to", "it", and "as" words. Read slowly, take your time, there's no rush. Maybe ask someone with, ah, more refined reading and writing skills than your own for help, it's no shame. Nor would it be too difficult -- pick somebody off the street at random, and he or she will probably be a few ticks up on you in that department. Betcha you'll find those words aren't SUPPOSED to be there . . . and also learn something in the process!

Imagination AND Intelligence needed

To follow up on a previous reviewer's comments about being puzzled by some of the negatives, I think you have to look at their tone and quality to understand where they're coming from. One person says he'll pick up a "dog book" if he wants to know about the "plight of greyhounds" -- referring to a relatively small plot element to say something nasty about a story that centers around intrigue and action in Africa and a related kidnapping by a team of trained international assassins. Presumably, he has something against dogs. Also presumably, this genius would say the same thing regarding Hemingway's THE SUN ALSO RISES . . . he wants to read about bulls, he'll read a "bull book." He'd also better stay away from Crichton, and read "dinosaur books" . . . but you get my drift. Consider the source and weigh it appropriately. The same goes for those who use catch-all phrases like "no characterization" and "no plot", etc. without writing a single word to back them up. This is not thoughtful criticism. Ridiculous claims, too, since the signatures of this series are multiple plotlines and complex characters. Again, consider the source(s) . . . If you want a great, intelligent, well-written thriller read this novel. If you can't exercise your brain, or don't have a brain to exercise, stick to video games . . . and easy ones.

*Warning Imagination Required*

To really enjoy this book you need to have some idea in your head of whats going on and where, and it doesn't matter if its wrong you need to make this happen in your mind. Believe me it enhances the story - which is pure genious and incredible stuff by Priesler. A struggle for power in which an impressionable hostage is taken. MAGIC.However, the book may not appeal to a wide audience so deserves 4 stars. To be honest I don't understand why everybody -except on guy- has rated it badly.

Best of the Bunch!

I absolutely loved this one! Jerome Preisler has followed through on the events of BIO STRIKE with a sequel that, as seems typical with this series, weaves together several disparate, complex storylines and locales in seamless fashion-- in this case inventively crossing genres with a tale of fiberoptic data theft in Africa, the kidnapping of core character Roger Gordian's daughter in California, and a blood vendetta between series hero Tom Ricci and his nemesis that I suspect is going to have great ramifications for the future of the POWER PLAYS series. As usual, realistic characterization, colorful villains and original prose stylings are strong points. A page turner from start to finish.
