Perfect Continuation Of Tom's Survival Field Guide

Tom Brown's Field Guide to Living With the Earth is a perfect continuation of Tom's Survival Field Guide. In his survival guide, Tom dealt mainly with immediate actions. What you should do first, and last ditch efforts that will keep you alive. In this book, Tom discusses things that you can do in a survival situation after you have taken care of your primary needs needs. First off, I think that a clarification of terms needs to be done. When Tom says living WITH the Earth, he means what most people consider living OFF the Earth. However, Tom does not like to say living off the Earth, instead, he calls it living with the Earth. Now, in this book, you will find how-to guides on how to work with stone and bones, make clay containers, and an excellent guide on how to make a wonderful bow. While any of the skills described in this book can and should be used after you have settled into a survival situation, they can also be done at home. With this guide, you can easily go into the nearest patch of woods, and do many of the wonderful things that this book tells you how to do. No one will find a shortage of fun and chalenging projects to do while they have this book. Another great benefit of practicing these skills, they help to get you closer to the earth. If are already a fan of Tom Brown, you must get this book. Use it all you can, and read it cover to cover often. I would not recomend this as your first Tom Brown guide. Because it is a continuation of his survival guide, you should start with that one. His survival guide starts out with the basics, and then this guide deals with advance concepts. However, you should definitely read this book after you finish the survival guide. Better than reading, you should get outside and practice the things explained in this great book. Please, humans have forgotten many of the old ways. Use this book to help you get back in touch with them. You will not regret buying this great book.

Outstanding Book

This is a great book to add to your collection of survival books or to use alone. i have read all of Tom Browns books and have found them to be the most usefull and inspiring of any survival book around. The main thing i like about his books are that he relates all of his teaching to the primitive ways, and for me that is what primitive living is all about. This book is more than just a survial book, it is a book to help those interested in primitive living to be able to go out in the woods, and live off the land from what he has taught. Get this book, and you wont be sorry.

This book is awsome!!!!

I obtained thid book from my local library when they got rid of it, because I was the only person who would ever check it out. I think it is a great book for anyone who wants to or is trying to regain their ancestrial roots. It vividly explains how to build shelters, tan hides, and even make arrowheads. Personally I love it and I think others will probably feel the same way.

Nice book, written from the heart, on the subject

Much more integrated than comparable military training. Done from a Native American viewpoint, very heart-centered. A pretty good reflection of Brown's ideas.
