This book (or booklet) is put together in a very professional manner. Glossy pages intersperse the historic progression of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) with pertinent pictures, time lines and historical antidotes. The contents are a popular history. It is aimed at a WELS member seeking to learn the history of their church body, yet would be appropriate for anyone to learn about WELS history. It is a factual yet does not attempt the depth of a scholarly work. It neither glosses over controversies nor does it adopt a preachy tone, yet it is not ashamed to present and espouse the beliefs of WELS. All in all, a great place to start if you are interested in the history of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
