This ground-breaking daily meditation book is for people in addiction recovery who also have an emotional or psychiatric illness. Today I Will Do One Thing is written especially for those who have a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder--called dual disorders. These daily readings construct a simple blueprint for positive problem solving, such as dealing with situations and relationships typically difficult for people with dual disorders. Readings also: provide practical demonstrations of effectively handling emotions, mild paranoia, and other difficulties; state an affirmation and acknowledge a common problem; provide insight for positive chan≥ and offer motivation to complete one simple, concrete goal for the day.
There are too few books that are broken down into simple, and helpful, formats. With thousands of people recovering from addictions and mental health issues, having a practical, down-to-earth daily guide brings a lot of relief. When attention spans are short from either depression, ADD, anxiety, or any other distracting life event, this book can speak clearly and yet very helpfully.
Amazing resource

I was recently diagnosed severe recurrent (chronic) depression with anxiety and put on meds, and have been in recovery already for 12 years. There isn't a lot of literature out there that's non-clinical for the "dually diagnosed" population as accessible as this book, and it's a treasure because you can flip around from topic to topic using the index. I have found out so much about myself and about how to cope with life from this little book. DEFINITELY worth the money!!
