In reading To Face the Sun, I can understand why this novel won the Reviewer's Choice award from Romantic Times as the best WWII novel. Statham brings to life the famous "Lollipop Run" of U.S. hospital ships, picking up wounded soldiers from islands in the South Pacific, and the role of coastal watchers on Guadalcanal. Her ability to write about love amid war is truly outstanding and I highly recommend this book!
