An illustrated poem about the perceived barriers that frustrate the love of a mare and a unicorn. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This sweet and gorgeously written story is about a mare who dreams of the love of a unicorn. The unicorn in question, a striking and wild stallion, appears every once and a while for a fleeting time among the other animals and the mare, seeing his mystical beauty, sadly believes that he could never love one such as her. As she seeks the counsel of the other animals, who tell her that love and worth have not to do with looks, she slowly learns the true meaning of love and the true desires of the wild stallion's heart. This book has particular meaning for me: I ordered it a few years ago, right around the time I discovered that a young man I'd had a crush on for years, who was beautiful inside and out, was seeing another girl. I had never quite given up hope for him, but this news made him seem more elusive than ever and left me feeling quite like the mare in this tale: hoping alone and completely out of my league. That very same day, this book arrived, and it was like a gift from heaven reminding me of my own worth. The message is priceless! Illustrated with gorgeous paintings and told with wonderful poetic skill, this tale is a treasure to both children and adults. Anyone who's been frusterated by love can appreciate it and the lesson of acceptance is great for children. Highly recommended!
