I'm generally not one to write reviews, but given the apparent lack of interest/general awareness surrounding this book, I thought I'd write a little something to encourage any prospective readers.
I picked this up at my local bookstore purely because I liked the cover art (which is amazing, by the way). To put it simply, the book itself was really... fun? I think that's the best word to describe it. It's gentle, entertaining, engrossing, and a good time overall. I'm not a guy who reads 100 books a year, and I'm certainly not one to exclusively read what's popular or critically acclaimed. My methodology in picking a book is generally based on how much fun I think I'll have reading it - and apparently that leads me to books about close-up magician horse-racing gamblers? Maybe I'm subconsciously hoping for a career swing in that direction. Who knows?
If you're in the mood for something fun and easy that doesn't take itself too seriously, look no further.
