Tiny and his best friend love winter. And the best thing about winter is playing in the snow Tiny's friend throws a snowball, and Tiny runs to catch it. Tiny runs and runs until his friend can't see him anymore. Where is Tiny? He is missing And what is that sound? Is it a snow monster crunching through the snow, or is it just Tiny the snow dog?
My 5-year-old was initially drawn to this series of books featuring Tiny the dog because he reminded her of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Tiny is a dog, but unlike his name, he is HUGE. Though the stories do not feature many characters, mainly Tiny and his owner, a young boy, the stories are simple and engaging. In "Tiny the Snow Dog", Tiny goes out into the snow to play with his owner, but then his owner loses sight of him. Where can the huge dog be? The Tiny stories are vividly illustrated in full color which will motivate young children, especially visual learners. The sentences are simple in structure and repetitive which makes this an ideal series for beginning readers (Level 1), and the visual clues provided within the illustrations enable children to figure out words by themselves. The elements of predictability and familiar sight words serve to encourage early readers and keep them interested. My daughter's reading aptitude has improved with books like the Tiny stories!

Young children love this story about a boy and his oversized dog having fun on a snowy day. Great book to discuss sequencing with your child.
Adorable New Easy-to-Read Children's Book

Tiny the dog is anything but tiny. In fact, he's huge. One snowy day, Tiny and his owner decide to play outside. They go sledding, have a snowball fight, and Tiny even plays hide-and-seek with his beloved owner. Then, when the cold has chilled their bones, the two friends head inside for a nice mug of warm cocoa. Following in the footsteps of CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG, yet with less content, and more illustrations, TINY THE SNOW DOG is an adorable new book that is sure to please young readers, and help them to begin reading on their own. Filled with just a few words per page, and marvelous full-color illustrations, Cari Meister's effort is sure to succeed. Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper

This is the first book that my son has ever tried to read for himself. This book actually made him feel like he could read. He was so proud of himself. I am so impressed with the format of the book that I am going to try other books from the Viking Easy to Read series.
